The Sydney LLB - Costs and Fees
Local Commonwealth supported students are required to pay on a deferred or up-front basis for each unit of study they complete. Units of study are divided into three bands. The amount you are required to pay depends on the 'discipline group' to which the individual units are assigned i.e. law, arts, science, engineering or commerce.
A full-time, full-year local Commonwealth supported contribution for law in 2010 is $8,859. Australian Citizens have the option to pay up-front and receive a 20 per cent discount, or defer and pay the full amount through the tax system. Australian Permanent Residents and New Zealand Citizens must pay up-front. You will be required to select a payment option at enrolment. It is possible to change your payment option throughout your degree program. Most students who study at the University of Sydney are domestic and Commonwealth supported. These students have most of the cost of their education paid by the government but must also contribute themselves. In 2010 annual contributions will range from $4,249-$8,859 depending on the course and subjects studied. Visit the Fees website for further information.
International fee-paying students are required to pay fees for each unit of study they complete. A full-time law load costs $30,720 per year for an international student in 2010. Non-law units are calculated according to the unit fee for the relevant Faculty.
