A Wealth of Specialised & Intensive Units of Study
The Sydney Law School offers up to 130 units of study throughout its postgraduate program each year. In 2009, Sydney Law School is set to offer over 160 units of study, the largest in its history. An increasing number of units are now available on an intensive basis, where they are taught over a few days rather than a full semester. In 2009, 70% of units are scheduled to be taught intensively.
Non- Award Enrolment
We have endeavoured to make our programs as flexible as possible. You can now enrol in any one of the Law School's postgraduate subjects on a single unit or non-award basis where you don't have to commit to an entire program.
Non-Lawyer Enrolment
Many of our postgraduate programs are open to non-lawyers. You do not have to have a law degree or work in the legal profession if you would like to enrol in our Health Law or Environmental Law programs for instance.
Quality of Staff
Our level of staff expertise is well respected. Not only are many of our staff leaders in their fields, but we also draw on a range of international experts to deliver our programs.
Legal Professional Development (LPD) Program
Many of our units of study are available to audit for Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) points. Candidates can choose whether to undertake the assessment and get academic credit (and CLE points), or they can simply attend the classes and obtain the CLE points alone. Units taken for credit cannot be counted towards a Graduate Diploma or Masters degree at a later date.
Cross-Institutional Study
Candidates may undertake units in postgraduate programs at other universities subject to approval. A formal application, detailing the academic content, attendance and assessment requirements of the unit(s) proposed to be completed is made to the Law School first. Candidates from other institutions can also apply to study units at Sydney Law School upon approval from their home institution and the Sydney Law School.
