How to apply for the Sydney LLB - International students

Combined Law

A sample of the entry qualifications required for Combined Law are as follows:*

  • University Admission Index (UAI) 94.55
  • University of Sydney Foundation Program GPA 8
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) 36
  • GCE A Levels 13.5 (14)

Graduate Law

The admission requirement for Graduate Law is an undergraduate degree in another discipline at a sufficient level. As a guide a grade point average (GPA) of 2.8/4 would qualify for entry.

English Language Requirements

If you have completed a Year 12 qualification or equivalent in Australia or another country, or if you have completed senior secondary studies in ENGLISH, proof of English proficiency may not be required.

The English language requirement for undergraduate law at Sydney is an International English Testing System (IELTS) of 7.5 with a minimum of 7.0 in each component. A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 627 plus a Test of Written English (TWE) of 5, or a Computer-based TOEFL (CBT) score of 263 with an Essay Rating of 5+, or an Internet-based TOEFL (IBT) of 106+ with a minimum of 25+ in the Writing section and 24+ in the Reading, Listing and Speaking section are also accepted.

If you are an international student applying to the University on the basis of a current Year 12 high school examination in Australia, either in New South Wales or interstate, you will need to apply to UAC.
