Ross Parsons Address: Tax Policy after the Financial Crisis
Professor Alvin Warren, Ropes & Gray Professor at Harvard Law School, delivered a highly successful Ross Parsons lecture on Monday 19 October 2009. His theme was that the current fiscal situation in the United States is untenable in that future federal revenues will not come close to funding mandated expenditures. Major tax reform is therefore on the legislative horizon for the first time in more than twenty years. This lecture explored the major reform options for the United States, how those options relate to developments in the rest of the world, and how the options relate to academic discussions of tax policy over the last twenty years. The text of the lecture will be available on the website in November after Professor Warren returns to the US and revises it for publication.
