LAWS6856 - Anti-Terrorism Law

Objectives

  • Acquire an introduction to the diverse range of anti-terrorism laws and policies which have developed at the international, regional and domestic levels, and which proliferated after the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001.

Content

Evaluation of laws in the light of their profound and complex political, ideological and ethical implications for political order, legal systems, human rights, and international relations; the study of terrorism (and the law’s response to it) is the study of the timeless philosophical question of when political violence is justified, against whom, and for what purposes - whether it is ‘freedom fighters’, or ‘State terrorism’, that is at issue.

  • 1 x 6,000 Word Essay (70%)
  • 1 x Take Home Exam (30%)
